Nov. 192022

Being a new parent can be exciting, but it can also be scary. There are so many questions and concerns that come with having a first child, and that’s why at the Center of Pediatric Medicine, we offer new parent classes to help guide you along the way through your pregnancy.

First off, congratulations! Being able to watch a baby grow inside your very own body is an experience like no other. The thought of bringing your child into this world can easily put a smile on your face. However, being a first-time parent can always come with anxiety. It can be stressful trying to figure out what foods are beneficial, where to shop, and what brands of diapers are best for your baby. There are loads of questions that can race through your mind, and they can absolutely create anxieties.

Our classes are a perfect way to not only get answers to your questions but to guide you through the first 12 weeks of your pregnancy (as well as newborn care after your delivery)! All of your questions will be addressed by our outstanding staff; this way, you can feel more at ease during this journey. You can also meet new parents like yourself that are going through similar issues and concerns, creating a safe space to talk about everything and anything. Our class is also a great way to learn about pediatric care! If your concerns are pointed toward the direction of delivery and aftercare, our birth & beyond class will provide you with useful information for proper newborn care to ensure that you and your baby stay happy and healthy. In fact, we offer an overview of breastfeeding to help ensure that your baby can latch on and properly feed!

Being a new mom should be something you look forward to, and with our new parent classes, we can guarantee that. Our staff will be able to offer you tons of great support and memories to leave you feeling ready for your first baby. Our staff is filled with expert specialists to provide you with the best care and information. By the time your water breaks, you’ll be completely prepared for your child to be brought into this world.

So let us celebrate the experience of childbirth instead of fearing it! We even have new patient classes so you can meet the staff and each other as well. Having a baby is a long journey, and no one said it would be easy. But you don’t have to fear it. As a first-time parent, you want everything to go perfectly, and most likely it won’t. However, with these new parent classes, you’ll be ready for any challenges.

Our website provides tons of information on what we do here at the Center for Pediatric Medicine. Feel free to check out all the classes we offer when we offer them: and our exceptional staff will support you throughout your journey. During the hours we are closed we are readily available to assist you with any urgent clinical concerns you may have.

You can call any of our office locations or 203-790-0822. You will be promoted with an after-hours message. If you select option 1 you will be connected with CPM’S after-hours answering service team. The after-hours team will gather all of your child’s information (Patient's first and last name, best contact number, and health care concern). This message will be sent to “Rainbow Babies” an experienced triage service that CPM uses to assist us with clinical after-hours calls. A trained triage nurse will call the patient back and provide the recommended clinical advice. If the triage nurse needs more assistance they will reach out to one of CPM’s on-call providers for the night. CPM’s on-call provider will call the patient directly and continue to evaluate your child over the phone. All phone call encounters are followed up with a call the next day from CPM’s triage department.

If it is a life-threatening emergency please call 911.
